THE FESTIVALThe Festival focuses on producing iron from local ore using bloomery furnaces. These are clay shafts and what comes out is wrought or forgeable iron. Only local ores, fuel (charcoal) and clay are used.
The iron is made by smelters from Ireland and much further afield. Irish blacksmiths make objects from the iron made. |
JOIN IN THE FUNThe Festival takes place from Monday 24th till Sunday 30th of August 2020. The family event is educational and spectacular and set in the wonderful village of Woodford, Co. Galway.
